Hills Nocturnal Creations acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
Hills Nocturnal Creations was established in 2020 by Floria. It is a one-woman operation, and Floria does most of her sewing after the sun goes down, hence “Nocturnal”. These are her active hours of creating and designing after everyone goes to bed. She is a passionate and creative sewer, with a love of bright and vibrant colours, interest in a variety of designs from diverse artists and, whenever possible, natural textiles. Her favorite materials for crafting her products are leather, cotton and recently added cork to the list too.
Floria’s handcrafted products are mostly different types of bags and small accessories. The small items are a result of using up scrap materials and reducing as much waste as possible. Floria loves Australia nature and its surroundings. She uses fabrics of Australiana designs by local designers and artists not only with bags and accessories but also showcasing them with kitchen and dining room items such as napkins, placemats and tea towels.
Floria’s products are made by herself at her home in Aldgate, South Australia. Her products are well made with quality and durability in mind, meaning they withstand wear and last longer.
Floria sources her materials from businesses that offer good quality products and they support other small businesses, local designers, and their local communities through charitable causes and non-profit groups.

Her go to designs are mostly by Australian designers and artists such as Jocelyn Proust, Kirsten Katz, Ruth Spencer, May Gibbs, to name a few. Floria uses top quality stabilizer and interfacings with her bag making. Spotlight carries range of these products and they are rarely on sale. When they are on sale Floria makes sure not to miss out on this opportunity. Stabilizer and interfacings are similar but not the same thing yet they both enhance the finished look. Stabilized fabric is ideal for creating shaped fabric objects and design elements.
